Annotations

Leave notes on the blocks of an article and follow the open annotations of your articles and of the platform.

Updated on 6 October 2026

An annotation is a note that a contributor leaves on one block of an article, for example a paragraph. Readers do not see annotations. Use them to ask for a change or to discuss a part of the article with the other contributors.

Add an annotation

  1. Open the article and point to the block that you want to annotate.

  2. Click the speech bubble icon on the right of the block.

  3. Write your annotation and click "Post".

The block now has a green line and a green speech bubble.

Reply to an annotation

  1. Click the green speech bubble next to the block. The annotation opens on the right.

  2. Click "Reply". If the annotation already has replies, click the number of replies to show them.

  3. Write your reply in the "Add a comment..." field and click "Post".

When the question is answered, click "Resolve". Any contributor can resolve an annotation.

When you add an annotation or reply to one, you follow the article. When someone annotates an article that you contributed to, you get a notification. You can change this in your notification preferences.

See all the annotations of an article

Click the annotations icon at the top right of the article. The number next to it is the number of open annotations. The "Annotations" panel has three tabs: "All", "Unresolved" and "Resolved".

Find the annotations on your articles

Click "Tasks" in the menu on the left, then click the "Annotations" tab. It lists your articles that have open annotations, with the number of annotations for each article.

See the annotations of the platform

  1. Click your profile picture in the top right corner, then click "Settings".

  2. In the menu on the left, open "Content management" and click "Annotations".

The table has one row for each annotation, with its text, its article, the language, the space, the author, the status and the creation date. By default, it shows only the open annotations.

  • To see the annotations of one space, choose the space in the "All spaces" list.

  • To see the resolved annotations, click "Filter" and select "Resolved". When "Open" and "Resolved" are both selected, the table shows all the annotations.

Open an annotation in its article

  1. Point to the text of an annotation. Its card opens, with its replies and the "Resolve" button.

  2. Click the "Preview the article" icon in the card.

The article opens in a "Preview" panel, with the annotation card next to the annotated block. To open the article page, click "Open content".

When you resolve an annotation, it no longer shows in the list of open annotations. Select "Resolved" in the filter to find it again.
