Public portal (beta)

Set up a public portal

Enable the beta, create an external space with sections and folders, then open or share the portal.

Updated on 7 October 2026

1. Ask us to enable the beta

Contact your Elium account manager or support@elium.com with your use case: a customer help centre, partner documentation, a product FAQ. We enable the portal on your platform and build the next steps with your feedback.

2. Create an external space

Create a new space as usual and tick "Allow external access". This choice is made when the space is created and cannot be added to an existing space. Give the space a clear name: it appears in the address of the portal and as the title of the public page.

An "External" badge appears in the header of the space so that everyone knows its content can be read outside the organisation.

3. Create sections and folders

An external space has no tabs. Open the space and click "Create section" to add a top-level entry, with a name and a description in each language. Open a section and click "Create folder" to add a level below it. Sections and folders can be renamed and moved from their menu.

Readers see the same structure, so name the sections for them, not for your internal organisation.

4. File your articles

Place each article in a section or folder: only filed articles appear in the portal. See File articles in a public portal.

5. Open or share the portal

Click the three dots in the header of the space, then click "Open portal" to see the public page, or "Copy URL" to copy its address. The portal is not shown inside the application: you manage the space as usual and open the public version through its link.
