Tagging in Elium
Add tags to your articles so people can filter and find them.
Updated on 5 October 2026
Tags are one of the most important features of Elium. They help everyone find the right information.
What tags are for
A tag is a term, or a group of terms, that you add to an article or a profile. Used well, tags are an effective filter to sort and select information.
You can use tags to:
-
describe the subject of an article with a shared vocabulary
-
show the nature or the use of an article, for example "competitive intelligence" or "internal use only"
-
add information that the search engine cannot find on its own, such as the language of an article
-
send articles to the right people, through personal or shared alerts
-
create filtered views in the tabs of a space
Tags are shared across spaces (unless an administrator decides otherwise), so they also make search across all spaces better.
How to tag an article
The tag window opens the first time you publish an article or save it as a draft. It does not open again when you edit the article, but you can change the tags at any time.
-
Click "Edit Tags" under the article. When you publish a new article, the same window opens, with a "Publish" button.
-
Type in the "Search or create tags" box. Existing tags are shown with their category.
-
You can also browse the categories on the left to find a tag.
-
If the tag you need does not exist, create it from the search box, if your platform allows it.
-
Elium can also suggest tags under "Suggestions based on content". Click a suggestion to add it.
-
Click "Save Tags".
To tag several articles at once, select them in the list of a space and click "Add tags".
