Import files

Import PDF and Markdown files and turn them into Elium articles.

Overview

You can turn a PDF or Markdown file into an Elium article.

The imported content becomes a native article. It gets all the Elium features: workflows (approval, expiration date, etc.), editing with other people, and better indexing for search and AI.

  • Save time: import your documents directly, without copying and pasting.

How to import

  1. Click "Create", then click "From file" at the top of the menu.

  2. The "Create article from file" page opens. The article is created in the space shown at the top of the page. You can choose another space there.

  3. Drag and drop one or more PDF or Markdown files, or click "Choose file".

  4. Click "Create article".

  5. Elium creates a draft article from the content of your files. This can take a few minutes. You can leave the page: Elium notifies you when the article is ready and adds it to the "Imports" tab.

When the article is ready, open it and check the content. Elium also gives the article a title, which you can change. You can edit the content, add blocks (media, callouts, etc.) and publish the article when it is ready.

Imports tab

All your imports are in "My Contents", in the "Imports" tab.

For each import, the table shows the file used, the article created from it, the space, the status of the article (for example "Draft") and the date. While the file is processed, the "Article" column shows "Importing" and the name of the file.

The menu at the end of each row has three options: "Open article", "Edit" and "Delete".
