Manage Your Notifications
Choose which notifications you receive and where, and use the notification centre.
Updated on 6 October 2026
Elium sends you a notification when something happens on the content you follow, or when someone needs you. For each type of notification, you choose where you receive it.
Choose your notifications
-
Click your profile picture in the top right corner, then click "Settings".
-
In the menu on the left, under "My account", click "Notifications".
-
Click a type of notification to open it. Enable or disable each channel: "In-app" (the notification centre), "Email" or "Mobile App".
The page has these types of notifications:
-
"Mentions": someone mentions you, or a space or a team that you are a member of.
-
"Comments": someone comments on an article that you follow.
-
"Article updates": someone edits an article that you follow.
-
"Likes": someone likes an article that you follow.
-
"Invitations to read" and "Invitations to contribute": someone invites you to read an article or to contribute to it.
-
"Annotations": someone adds, replies to or resolves an annotation on an article that you follow.
-
"Additional Views": someone gives you access to a specific article.
-
"Expiring Contents": articles are about to expire. See Keep articles up to date.
-
"Approval": the approval of your content changes. See Approval.
-
"Article requests": something changes on a request. See Article Requests.
Some types do not offer all the channels. For example, "Likes" is only in the app.
Approval request emails
You may receive an email when an article is submitted for approval without a named approver. See Approval for who receives it in each type of space.
To stop these emails, open the "Approval" section on the "Notifications" page and disable "Email". This personal preference applies even when approval is mandatory in the space. If you have not set a preference, the platform's default applies.
The notification centre
Click the bell icon at the top right of the page. The number on the bell shows how many notifications you have not read.
The notification centre has three tabs: "Unread", "All" and "Pinned".
-
Click a notification to open the content. The notification is then marked as read.
-
To mark a notification as read without opening it, click the blue dot ("Mark as read").
-
To keep a notification for later, click the pin icon ("Pin the notification"). It stays in the "Pinned" tab until you unpin it, even after you read it.
-
To mark all your notifications as read, click the three dots at the top of the notification centre, then click "Mark all as read".
The same menu has a "Notification Settings" link to the settings page.
Activity digest and browser notifications
At the bottom of the "Notifications" page, the "Other notifications" section has two settings:
-
"Activity digest": how often you receive the email with the new articles of your spaces. See Activity Digest.
-
"Browsers notifications": notifications that appear on your computer screen, even when the Elium page is not in front of you. Click "Enable Notifications", then allow notifications when your browser asks.
If you blocked notifications in your browser before, allow them for your Elium address in the site settings of your browser. In Chrome, open chrome://settings/content/notifications. Do the same to disable them.
