Email Pipelines

Add content to Elium by email, with your personal address or with pipelines that administrators set up.

Updated on 6 October 2026

You can add content to Elium by sending an email. Elium turns the email and its attachments into content.

Your personal address

Every user has a personal address that saves emails in their personal space. To find it, click your profile picture in the top right corner, click "Settings", then click "Preferences". The address is in the "Capture and store your e-mail" section.

Add this address to your address book, then send your emails to it or put it in copy. The attachments become content, and the email keeps a link to them.

Create an email pipeline

An email pipeline is an extra address with its own rules: the space, the tags, the author and how the content is published. It has this form: your-platform-name.elium.com+extension@in.elium.com.

  1. Click your profile picture in the top right corner, then click "Settings".

  2. In the menu on the left, open "Emails" and click "Email pipelines".

  3. Click "Create an email pipeline".

  4. Complete the form:

    • "Email Extension": the part of the address after the +. Choose a clear name. The form shows the full address below the field.

    • "Description": what the pipeline does, so that other administrators understand it.

    • "Create As User": the author of the content. "Find owner with sender's address" uses the person who sent the email. You can also choose one user for all the content.

    • "Create In Space": the space where the content is created. By default, it is the personal space of the author.

    • "Create with tags": the tags added to the content.

    • "Check Permissions": Elium checks that the sender can publish in the space.

    • "Publish": the content is published immediately. If you disable it, the content is saved as a draft.

    • "Notify Sender": the sender receives an email when the content is created.

  5. Click "Create".

On some platforms, the form also has an "Ingest" field. It sets what Elium keeps from the email:

  • the body of the email as the content, with the attachments in a gallery;

  • the body, with each attachment as a separate article;

  • only the body;

  • only the attachments, each as a separate article;

  • only the links in the email, each as a separate article.

Limits

  • Each pipeline has its own address. If you need many different rules, you need many addresses.

  • Emails with a complex layout may not look the same in Elium.
