Microsoft Previewer

Activate the Microsoft Previewer in the lab to render Office documents natively.

When you visit the lab, you have the option to activate an alternative preview for displaying Office documents (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

The card in the Lab

The primary advantage of this previewer is its ability to render Office documents natively. Officially supported by Microsoft, it provides a more accurate representation of documents compared to the original Elium previewer, which converts files to PDF format.

Rendering Example

*Rendering of an Excel file using the Microsoft previewer. The tabs for the different sheets are accessible, and navigation is user-friendly. *

When should i activate this?

If you frequently work with PowerPoint, Excel, or Word documents in Elium, this previewer will enhance your experience. You will benefit from a superior reading experience across all your documents.

Limitations

There are two main limitations associated with this previewer.

  1. All documents are transmitted to Microsoft servers. If you wish to maintain complete control over your data, this is an important consideration. Note: If you are using Office365, your documents may already be stored on Microsoft's servers in some capacity.

  2. Only files smaller than 5MB can be previewed due to the transfer process to Microsoft's servers.
