Export one or more spaces as a small website that you can browse without an internet connection. The download is a ZIP archive containing article pages and their files. Use it to keep reference material available when you cannot access Elium.
Create an export
- Open Settings from your profile menu, then select Exports.
- In Space Export, select the spaces you want to include using the Spaces field.
- Click Export and wait for the ZIP archive to download.
If the space export section is missing, check that you are a system administrator and that the feature is enabled on your platform.
Open and browse the offline website
- Extract the ZIP archive into a folder on your computer.
- Open the index.htm file at the top level of that folder in your web browser.
- Choose an article from the home page. Articles are organised by space and space group.
Each article has a sidebar with the table of contents. Use it to move between articles, or click the Elium logo to return to the home page.
Keep the extracted folder and its contents together. Moving an article file out of the folder can break its links to other pages, images and attachments.
What the export includes
The export contains published articles from the selected spaces, with their attached files, drawings and available image previews. Draft, archived and deleted articles are excluded. Comments and files attached to comments are also excluded.
Links to external websites and links back to Elium still require an internet connection. The export is a copy of the content at the time of download. Create a new export when you need more recent content.
Article limit
Each export can include up to 2,000 articles in total across the selected spaces.
Before relying on the export, test it without an internet connection. Check that the articles and files you need are present and open correctly.
Other exports
Article metadata exports have a separate limit of 3,000 articles and do not include article bodies.
